Mt. Wildwood is free for everyone to use. After 11 years without ads, I have updated the site and turned ads on so I can host more information. I won't pester you to disable your ad blocker; I understand some things are better with one. Thank you to everyone who leaves the ads on, it keeps the site hosted.
You can also support me by buying merchandise through the affiliate links on each page.
Privacy
You do not need an account to use Mt. Wildwood. An account is optional and only keeps your settings on every device you sign in from. The web server also keeps its normal access logs.
Accounts
You sign in through Discord or Google. We get your display name and a number that identifies you at that service. No password, email address, or avatar is stored. Signed in, the following is saved on our server and tied to that number:
- your display name and the date you signed up;
- your settings (the same ones listed below under browser storage), plus anything later features save to your account, such as favorites, progress, and teams;
- a hashed session token for each device you are signed in on, with that device's browser name, so you can be kept signed in for 30 days.
Nothing is shared with other companies. On your account page you can download everything stored or delete the account; deleting removes all of it.
Accounts are for people 13 and older.
Stored in your browser
A few page settings are saved in your browser's local storage so they stay the same on your next visit. Signed out, they never leave your device. Clearing site data removes them.
mtw-view: Cards or Table view for lists.mtw-team-builder: your teams in the Team Builder, including named saved teams. With an account the teams and your trainer card settings (character, name, and comment you typed) are also kept on the server.mtw-battle-sim: Battle Simulator options.crank-pool:plus the page address: the last Crank-a-kai picked on that page.lang: the site language picked in the menu bar.mtw-wallpaper: the Yo-kai Pad wallpaper picked as the site background.puni-lang: language of Puni Puni names.
Cookies
mtw_session: keeps you signed in. Set only when you sign in; not readable by page scripts.mtw_in: a plain marker that you are signed in, so pages know to ask for your settings. Contains no data.mtw_admin: the blog editor's login (/admin/, site owner only).mtw_kplay: your Kunitori Wars save when you play without signing in. Set when you first play; not readable by page scripts. The save is on the server, but only this cookie finds it again: clearing cookies, a private window or another device loses it, unless you kept the save code the game shows you, which brings it back in any browser. Sign in and the save moves to your account. A guest save not played for a year is deleted.
Visitors who do not sign in get none of these, except mtw_kplay if they play Kunitori Wars.
Saves contain game progress only. Guest saves are encrypted with a key only your browser has for your privacy.
The save code is that key. We never keep it, so a lost code cannot be recovered.
