Four bells each call one Yo-kai for a battle where it can be befriended. Each Yo-kai waits in a fixed place once the bell is in the bag.
In Japan all four came as download content: the player picked Receive at the first window of the post office.
The English game has no download content for them. Only the Wonderer's Bell was given out, by QR code. The Korean QR table has all four bells.
The check
Before it offers the battle, each bell Yo-kai checks that the download was received and is still on the SD card. If the download is no longer found, the game takes the check back.
A bell from a QR code only adds the item, so this check never passes in the English game.
Robonyan F, Sailornyan, and Machonyan had the check in the English game from the start. Wondernyan did not, so he was the one bell Yo-kai the West could befriend.
Wondernyan after the update
A later English update (seen in Fleshy Souls 2.5.0; players report it from the Psychic Specters update) replaced Wondernyan’s talk with the Japanese one, which has the check.
Since then he still appears with the bell, but only says the refusal: “Something has changed with your system since you entered the code...” and sends the player to the post office to pick Receive. There is nothing to receive in the English game, so the battle can no longer be reached.
The refusal was already translated in the first English release; nothing used it until the update.
A Wondernyan befriended before updating stays on the save.
